Holidays!

Holidays are drawing to a close which is sad and unfortunately I don't feel all that rested. Lots has been happening at church over the school holidays so I haven't had a chance to get as good a break as I would have hoped.

The first week of holidays was Old Testament essay week - so not really holidays at all. I did my essay on the concept of the remnant in Israel. This was really tough because it required you to look at the whole of the Old Testament. I found the whole thing really painful. I guess after the pain has been forgotten what I have learned will begin to make the experience worth while. During this week I also had to have a Kids' Club meeting for Term 3 and also ran a Kids' Club Family Dinner. This also was tough and it didn't really feel worth the effort. I think most of the people there had fun which is a blessing but it was really hard work. I also played in the Dapto Squash tournament and it was lots of fun. I was able to catch up with some friends that I used to play squash with as a junior and got to play so good squash players too (which is a nice change from last comp).

The following week was our DAC Attack (holiday club for years K-6). Our theme this year was "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" and was all about how Jesus is the one we need to follow and there is no other way. We had around 120 children each day and they all had a great time. We had all the characters from the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin-man, Lion, The Good One, and The Evil One (we didn't have witches). I got to play the Evil One which was lots of fun. I also did a talk on the second day on the woman at the well from John 4. It turned out to be great and the children were very attentive. God really blessed the whole thing and it all ran very smoothly. The team worked really hard and worked really well together.

The the third week (last week) a group from college went to Coffs Harbour for a holiday. This was great. I got to go body boarding for the first time and caught a few waves. That was so much fun. There was 7 of us who went (there was meant to be 8 but one of the guys broke his wrist skateboarding just before we left - and was told by one of the other guys that he was now too old to skate). It was a great time to get away from everything and relax however I still had a sermon to write and a service to prepare for. I forgot to take my camera so when I get some photos off Naomi's (yes another Naomi) camera I will post them.

My final week of holidays consists of preaching at Cafe Church on Wednesday morning (a fortnightly church service for women) and the usual Kids' Club and church on the weekend. As for the rest of the week I am hoping to do not much -maybe catch up with some old friends and just relax.

I am also going to be changing squash clubs this comp. I will be playing for Elenora coz friends from junior days own the courts up there and I will get to play either top of A2 or bottom of A1 which is very exciting. The North Sydney comp is the strongest comp too so I look forward to working hard this comp. Jono (my bro for those who don't know) will hopefully be coaching me every now and again so that I can work my way up to premier league (which is the top grade) where a lot of my friends from juniors play. So hopefully that will only be able 12-18 months away.

Anyway, sorry it has been so long since I have posted but as you can tell life has been a little hectic. Thank you for you continued prayers. I know that God hears them and is answering them.
